In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Jos Buttler, the leadoff batsman for the Rajasthan Royals, reached 3000 runs on Wednesday.

After former Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Chris Gayle and Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul, the England wicketkeeper and T20 captain is the third fastest batter to reach the milestone in the IPL.

Following former Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Chris Gayle and Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul, the England wicketkeeper and T20 captain is the third batter to reach the milestone in the IPL in the shortest amount of time.

With an average of over 40 and a strike rate of over 150, Buttler accomplished the feat. His entry into the 3,000 club makes him the first English batter.

Buttler ranks 20th out of all IPL players in terms of runs scored. He and Virat Kohli have both scored 500 in the IPL, which puts him in second place overall. Also with six centuries, Gayle is in first place.

In terms of Buttler’s IPL career, he debuted there in 2016. In the two years he spent with the Mumbai Indians, he participated in 24 games.

Buttler joined Rajasthan Royals in 2018, and his IPL career graph improved as a result. Aside from missing the second half of the IPL in 2021, he scored 548 runs in 2018, 311 runs in 2019, 328 runs in 2020, and 254 runs in 2021.

Upon his return, he lived up to the hype and took home the Orange Cup in 2022 after scoring 863 runs in 17 games. He was crucial in helping RR reach their first final since 2008. Buttler is in good form right now and intends to win the Orange Cap once more.

Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson are the only players for the Royals in the IPL who have amassed more than 3,000 runs as of right now. This season, Buttler might join the elite group. He recently passed Shane Watson (2,372) to become their team’s third-leading run scorer in the competition.

Buttler was on fire the season before after RR kept him for a staggering Rs. 10 crores. Only Virat Kohli and David Warner have scored more than 800 runs in an IPL season before him.

Buttler will be able to earn another achievement if he repeats his run. Only the second England batter to reach 10,000 runs in T20 cricket, Buttler is on track to do so.

With over 9,400 runs, Buttler ranks second among Englishmen (10,916) only to Alex Hales.
Additionally, the former has a chance to surpass Luke Wright’s T20 record of seven tons slammed. The current tie (6) breaker is Buttler and Jason Roy.
