Rajasthan Royals’ dashing opener Jos Buttler suffered a finger injury after grabbing a low diving catch against Punjab Kings on Wednesday.

Buttler suffered the injury while catching Shahrukh Khan’s catch in the bowling of Jason Holder. Shahrukh mistime the ball too long on Buttler put a running divining catch and injured the little finger of his left hand. He looked in real pain after grabbing the catch. He underwent treatment and had stitches around his finger.

Ravichandran Ashwin was promoted up the order in place of Jos Butler. Jos Buttler came to bat at one down scoring 19 runs in 11 balls. Rajasthan Royals lost the game by 5 runs. He won the best catch of the match award. During the award ceremony, he was seen in white strapping around his left finger.

Rajasthan Royals next face David Warner-led Delhi Capitals on 08th April, Saturday at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati in an afternoon game. He is unlikely to feature in the playing XI against the Capitals due to the injury.

Team management of the Royals feels to rest their team’s best batsman as per the suggestion of the team’s medical staff. The team is in the thought of resting him for one or two matches and allowing the injury to heal completely.

Sanju Samson comments on Jos Buttler’s injury

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson scored 42 runs in 25 balls on a losing cause. Shimron Hetmeyer and Dhruv Jurel’s valiant effort couldn’t take the Royals home. After the Royals’ loss against Punjab Kings Samson comments on Buttler’s injury

Samson said: “Jos Buttler was not fit. He was getting stitches for his finger after the catch.” We sent Devdutt Padikkal in the middle order to tackle their two spinners in the middle overs.

Joe Root is likely to make his debut against Delhi Capitals replacing his fellow Englishmen Josh Buttler in the playing XI.
