The Lucknow Super Giants have been dealt a mighty blow in the 2023 Indian Premier League. Skipper KL Rahul has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering an injury while fielding in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was running to save a boundary and in the process, hurt his right leg. He is also likely to miss the upcoming World Test Championship final.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, KL Rahul has left the Lucknow Super Giants camp. He is in Mumbai for scans, which will determine his participation in the World Test Championship final in London early next month. The right-handed batter will be monitored by the National Cricket Academy. His chances of getting fit before the final look bleak, as those who know the situation are not exactly optimistic, reported Cricbuzz.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India or the Lucknow Super Giants are yet to issue a statement about KL Rahul’s injury. However, as per speculations, he could be suffering from a hamstring or hip injury. A few months ago, he underwent a hernia surgery in Germany. Meanwhile, the Lucknow Super Giants are yet to take a call regarding KL Rahul’s replacement.

Injury concerns on the rise for India ahead of WTC final

Team India’s injury concerns are on the rise ahead of the World Test Championship final against Australia. After KL Rahul, pacer Jaydev Unadkat’s participation is also in danger, as reported by Cricbuzz. He has also been ruled out of the 2023 Indian Premier League. The Board of Control for Cricket in India decides about his participation.

Ishan Kishan, who is on standby is likely to come in for KL Rahul. He will be India’s second wicket-keeping option for the final. Team India will leave for London immediately after the league stages of the 2023 Indian Premier League ends. Players who are part of the play-offs will leave for London later.
