Chennai Super Kings demolished their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets in the IPL 2023. CSK won the toss and chose to bowl first. Mumbai Indians were off to a flying start in the first 3 overs. It looked all set for another Rohit masterclass at Wankhede.
Tushar Deshpande got the prized wicket of Rohit Sharma after Rohit’s wicket saw Mumbai start crumbling. MSD and his tactics once again did the trick for CSK, the rotation of bowlers was on point. The use of two left-arm spinners on the side; Ravindra Jadeja and Santner did extremely well.
Rohit Sharma’s side looked clueless while bowling and CSK chased down the total with 11 balls to spare. Jadeja and Santner combined took 5 wickets and helped CSK restrict Mumbai Indians to 157.
CSK win Two in a row
Chennai Super Kings now sit in 5th position in the points table. “MS Dhoni made excellent use of Santner and Jadeja against Mumbai Indians batters. He knew that on such wickets these two can turn the tide, and that is why he showed more confidence in them,” Ravi Shastri said while speaking to Star Sports.
This was probably Dhoni’s last match at the iconic Wankhede stadium. Mumbai Indians have now lost 2 matches. Mumbai’s bowling hasn’t been up to the mark in both matches. They lost by 8 wickets against RCB and by 7 wickets against CSK.
Mumbai Indians missed their star pacer Jofra Archer in yesterday’s match. Dhoni’s first move after Rohit’s wicket was to introduce Jadeja into the attack inside 6 overs. Jadeja did not disappoint and quickly removed Ishan Kishan.
Ravindra Jadeja won man of the match for his stunning spell. Jadeja constantly discussed about the the pitch with Santner and both of them bowled accordingly
