The Indian Premier League 16 will begin with Chennai Super Kings taking on Champions Gujarat Giant to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. And, well-known commentator Harsha Bhogle talked about CSK captain MS Dhoni never bulk as this.
He was seen working on his power game during the practice session at M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. It would be interesting to see if Dhoni can showcase his power-hitting abilities during the IPL 2023.
It was a disappointing season for Chennai Super Kings in the 2022 edition of IPL as they finished 9th place with only 4 wins in the entire tournament. CSK would be looking for much-improved performance during the 2023 edition of IPL.
CSK bought star key all-rounder Ben Stokes for Rs 16.25 Crore, Ajiyanka Rahane for 50 Lakhs, Shaik Rasheed for 20 Lakhs, Nishant Sindhu for Rs 60 Lakhs, Ajay Mandal for 20 Lakhs, Bhagath Verma for 20 Lakhs. New Zealand pace bowler Kyle Jamieson was bought by the CSK franchise for Rs 1 Crore but due to injury, he will not take part in the prestigious tournament.

The four-time IPL winners CSK decided to retain the core players including MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayudu, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santer, Mahesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Chaudhary, Deepak Chahar, Simarjeet Singh, Prashant Solanki, Matheesha Pathirana, Senapati, Devon Conway.
It would be interesting to see if MS Dhoni can return to his old form during this year’s IPL edition and give cricketing fans in India a treat to watch.
MS Dhoni’s batting performance in IPL:
MS Dhoni looked out of sorts in the 2022 edition of IPL. He played all 14 matches in the tournament with just 232 runs including the best score of 50 not out against KKR. His strike rate was not up to the mark at a strike rate of 123.40 and struggled against the spinners.
Dhoni would be looking to showcase his skills during the 16th edition of IPL and make sure that he can help CSK from a poor performance last year. Dhoni arrived in Chennai for the practice session and hope that his practice can augur him with superb performances with the bat.
