Fans witnessed several high-scoring games over the course of the next seven days after none of the teams passed the 200-point threshold in Week 5. Delhi Capitals (DC) scored a whopping 207 against a respectable SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling lineup to record the highest score of the week.

The 10 IPL franchises have combined to score 3,111 runs in a total of nine games this week, which is 769 runs more than in Week 5.

  1. Ruturaj Gaikwad – 99 runs off 57 balls vs SRH

The previous week, on a Sunday night, when Ruturaj Gaikwad played his best knock of the year, SRH was the victim of another masterclass innings.

Gaikwad improved his game and demonstrated why he is currently one of the most elite young batters in the Indian circuit, despite the fact that he hasn’t been among the runs in IPL 2023.

Aiden Markram, the SRH captain, declared that Chennai should bat first after winning the toss. Devon Conway, who was taking part in just his second IPL game, was Gaikwad’s new opening partner.

The two CSK starting players were in excellent form and gave the reigning champions a steady start in the powerplay. Conway started milking singles and doubles not long after Gaikwad switched to a different setup.

The right-hander hit six fours and as many maximums while playing some graceful lofted shots, including a stunning one over mid-off. How well Gaikwad tackled Umran Malik was the high point of his innings. In three overs, the 25-year-old took advantage of Malik’s faster bowling to smash him for four boundaries and a few sixes.

The opening stand between Gaikwad and Conway, which totalled 182 runs, is also the highest partnership for CSK in the history of the lucrative league. Gaikwad’s unfortunate dismissal for 99 (off 57 balls) by Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the second-to-last delivery of the 18th over prevented him from scoring his second century in the IPL.

Contrarily, Conway, who scored 85 off of 55 balls, remained unbeaten and helped his team pass the 200-run threshold. In the second inning, Nicholas Pooran’s late blitz (64 off 33) was unable to bring the Sunrisers home. Gaikwad was named Player of the Match as Chennai prevailed by 13 runs in their third game of the tournament.

2. David Warner – 92 off of 58 against SRH

In his first season with his new team, DC, David Warner missed a few games. The southpaw, however, has been in excellent form since making a comeback.

Warner appeared particularly motivated when playing against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), the team he previously played for, after going three games without recording a single half-century. Inflicting harm on the Orange Army, who fired Warner midway through the previous season due to his subpar play, Warner played a destructive blow.

Warner lost his opening partner Mandeep Singh in the first over after being given the opportunity to bat first on a belter of a pitch. The Australian on the other end, however, didn’t care because he fully utilized the powerplay.

Warner smoked Umran Malik, a speedster, for 21 runs in one of his overs with his exquisite and powerful strokes. In their first six overs, Delhi racked up 50 runs.

As many as 12 fours and three maximums were hit by the left-hander while he was at the crease, completely destroying the Hyderabad bowlers. The IPL seasoned player reached his fourth IPL 2022 fifty in 34 balls and finished the game unbeaten with 92.

Along with an unbroken 122-run stand with Rovman Powell (67 not out), Warner remained at the wicket for 58 balls. Delhi advanced to an impressive 207-3 thanks to the duo’s magnificent innings. As a response, the DC bowlers put on a team effort to contain the Hyderabad batters and limit them to 186.

3. KL Rahul – 51 of 77 against DC

KL Rahul has put up a string of reliable performances with his new franchise Lucknow after a fairly average start to his IPL 2022 campaign. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), one of the season’s most promising teams, have benefited from his regular practice of leading from the front.

LSG’s most recent victory over the Delhi Capitals came on Sunday when captain Rahul took the initiative and hit another outstanding shot. The LSG openers gave their side a quick start after choosing to bat first for the first time in the competition. Quinton De Kock (23 off 13), who was struck by Shardul Thakur in the fifth over, gave DC the lead.

Rahul and Deepak Hooda later forged a winning partnership, scoring 95 runs for the second wicket. Rahul maintained his excellent form and hit his 29th IPL fifty in 37 balls, while Hooda played a useful knock of 52.

The batter, who was from Karnataka, was very self-assured and whipped the ball at will. In his 77 off 51 innings, he hit four boundaries and five sixes. The fact that Lucknow scored 195-3 in the first innings was largely due to his 151 strike rate.

LSG successfully defended their total on a good batting surface thanks to a standout bowling performance from youngster Mohsin Khan (4-0-16-4). DC was given some room to manoeuvre by Rishabh Pant (44) and Axar Patel (42). Although they came up six runs short, they gave LSG their seventh victory of the year.
