Chennai Super Kings pacer Tushar Deshpande made history during the opening clash of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Gujarat Titans on Friday, March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He became the first-ever impact player in the history of the Indian Premier League.
Tushar Deshpande was brought into the team by the Chennai Super Kings after the end of the first innings. He replaced Ambati Rayudu, who couldn’t make much of an impact in the first innings. Rayudu was dismissed for a run-a-ball twelve runs knock by Joshua Little. He made way for the first impact player of the tournament.

Sai Sudarshan replaces injured Kane Williamson as Gujarat Titans’ impact player
Gujarat Titans brought in Sai Sudarshan as the impact player against the Chennai Super Kings in the opening clash of the 2023 Indian Premier League in Ahmedabad. He replaced Kane Williamson in the team. Williamson suffered an injury during the first innings while stopping a six. He landed awkwardly r trying to stop the ball from going over the boundary rope. The Kiwi batter was in pain and had to leave the field. Sai Sudarshan walked out to bat in his place at number three for the Gujarat Titans.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings put on 178 runs on the board on the back of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s stunning innings. The opener slammed 92 runs off just 50 deliveries, with four boundaries and nine sixes at a strike rate of 184. The rest of the attack struggled a bit, barring Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni. The wicket-keeper provided the team with a good finish smashing 14 runs off just 7 deliveries.
