IPL 2023: Twitterati React As CSK Beat RCB In A High Scoring Thriller

Chennai Super Kings held onto his nerves as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-scoring thriller played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 17 April 2023 in the IPL 2023.

Chasing down a massive total of 227 runs to win, it was not an ideal start for RCB as they initially lost the wickets of Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror. Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis showed intent putting pressure on an inexperienced CSK bowling lineup. At the end of the first six overs, RCB scored 75 for 2.

After the field restrictions, Maxwell and du Plessis kept the momentum on for RCB with big hitting. RCB captain Faf showed domination completing fifty off 23 deliveries while Maxwell reached a half-century off 24 balls to keep RCB in the hunt. Mahesh Theekshana was bought into the attack and dismissed Maxwell with a good catch by MS Dhoni. Maxwell and Dhoni added 126 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Moeen Ali struck to get rid of Faf du Plessis with another superb catch by Dhoni. Dinesh Karthik got back into form with some lovely shots to put pressure on CSK bowlers. It was a great bowling effort by CSK’s inexperienced bowling attack as Dinesh Karthik looked impressive before being caught by Theekshana. Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed added 32 runs for the 5th wicket.

Mahesh Pathirana bowled a great 18th over giving away just 4 runs and titled the match in favour of CSK. Suyash Prabhudessai came as an impact player but Pathirana held onto his nerves to win the match by 8 runs. Tushar Deshpande was the pick of bowlers for CSK with 3 for 45, and Matheesha Pathirana took 2 for 42.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to field first. Mohammed Siraj provided the initial breakthrough dismissing Gaikwad. Ajiyanka Rahane looked in fine touch along with Devon Conway putting enough pressure on RCB bowlers. At the end of 6 overs, CSK made 53 for 1.

After the field restrictions, Rahane and Conway maintained the run rate before Hasaranga got rid of Rahane. Both CSK batters added 74 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Devon Conway completed his fifty off 32 deliveries while Shivam Dube hammered the RCB bowling lineup with big shots. Dube reached a half-century off just 25 balls. Harshal Patel produced a superb Yorker to dismiss Conway. Conway and Dube added 80 runs for the 3rd wicket. It was a brilliant batting effort as CSK posted a massive total of 226 for 6 in 20 overs. For his match-winning knock, Devon Conway was named the Player of the Match award.
