Suyash Prabhudesai and Virat Kohli were completely perplexed by one another. Which resulted in the RCB’s acting captain turning down a sitter in the IPL 2023.
Virat Kohli is one of the most secure and dependable hands when it comes to ground fielding and catches. Kohli has a history of missing way too many catches to be comfortable with.
Kohli made it clear that the catch was his to take but he ended up in a mess and dropped a catch. He would typically take 11 out of 10 times because of a converging fielder going for a catch.
The incident occurred in the match’s closing moments but at a time when PBKS had a genuine chance to pull off a miraculous victory. The fact that Jitesh Sharma and Harpreet Brar added a tenacious 41-run partnership in less than five overs was the reason PBKS was able to win the game in the 19th over after they had fallen to 106/7 in the 13th over.
Jitesh upped the ante by quickly reaching 41 off 27 balls and RCB really needed to get rid of him before Kohli turned down a clear opportunity. He skied the final ball of the 17th over, a full toss into the air. Suyash Prabhudesai was running in from deep mid-wicket when Kohli was standing at long-on.
He had already converged when Kohli realized what he had indicated, so Kohli was unable to get underneath the ball. Suyash watched dejectedly as Kohli struggled to maintain his balance as the ball fell into his hands but lobbed out of them.
It is simply being carried forward by the wind. When he enters Kohli’s field of vision, he says to Prabhudesai “This ball is mine”. Virat Kohli has been sidetracked there by him. The former Australia batter said, “I understand that two players were convergent but despite the call, it tends to cloud your vision.
Kohli had a memorable game as he added a century partnership with Faf du Plessis. RCB finished with 174/4 far below their initial projection. The sum was sufficient for RCB as Mohammed Siraj’s four-wicket haul derailed PBKS’s pursuit. Kohli even acknowledged the accuracy of a few DRS calls upon his one-time return to RCB.
