After their seven-run victory over SRH, the Delhi Capitals dugout was filled with joy in the IPL 2023. But David Warner’s outrageous celebration stole the show. On Monday, Delhi’s batting lineup once again struggled, falling for 144 in 20 overs. With a subpar target at home, Sunrisers Hyderabad had the ideal chance to snap their losing streak.

But before Bhuvneshwar Kumar took his second wicket of the evening to end the partnership. Manish Pandey and Axar Patel put on a valiant 69-run stand to give Delhi some hope. Delhi was limited to 144 for nine.

Sunrisers got off to a slow start, scoring 36 runs in the powerplay for the loss of just one wicket, but the DC attack slowed them down in the middle overs and took wickets at regular intervals. In quick succession, Mayank Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi left the game and Aiden Markram and Abhishek Sharma were both eliminated by the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.

Washington Sundar was unable to get SRH over the finish line despite some effort from Heinrich Klaasen. Mukesh Kumar’s outstanding final over bowling also failed to get SRH over the finish line. Warner erupted into a wild celebration following the victory. The Australian made a successful comeback in Hyderabad his first appearance at the venue since 2019.

A mouthful was even seen being thrown by Warner, a former member of SRH who was fired from the team after a dispute with the management. Axar Patel joined Warner in the celebration.

Here is how David Warner celebrated:

“I adore the atmosphere here; the supporters never fail to show their appreciation. He expressed his gratitude during the post-game presentation.”

After losing five straight games and having one of their worst IPL seasons ever, Delhi picked up their second straight victory.

“We discussed it following the conclusion of the 0 out of 5 games that teams had previously won. We’re hoping to win three straight. We have to restart because we have back-to-back games against Sunrisers.”
