At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 29, Delhi Capitals and SRH played in game 40 of the IPL 2023. In the end, Hyderabad defeated Delhi by nine runs. Batting first, SRH scored 197/6 and then restricted DC to 188/6.
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, an ugly fight broke out between spectators during a game between the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The reason for the fight inside the stadium is still unknown, but a video of it has appeared on social media.
Social media platforms are currently flooded with videos of violent fan behaviour during the game. Nobody from the authority was spotted in the vicinity. Although it appeared that the onlookers avoided serious injury, things could have easily gone wrong and escalated into a large-scale brawl.

Talking of the match, SRH batted first after winning the toss and was able to put up a respectable total by half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma (67 off 36) and Heinrich Klaasen (53* of 27). Since Mitchell Marsh (63 off 39) and Philip Salt (59 off 35) both scored impressive half-centuries, DC was positioned well at 112/1 in the chase.
But it took Mayank Markande (2/20) a great return catch to get rid of Salt. Following that, the Delhi Capitals lost their way and were held to a score of 188/6. Despite his team losing, Delhi all-arounder Marsh received the Player of the Match award. He had figures with the ball of 4/27 before tallying a fifty.
“Good to see guys showing their abilities and character,” Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram praised his team for putting forth a strong team effort and demonstrating character in his post-game remarks following the nine-run victory.
He again added: “Outstanding teamwork. It’s good to see the men exhibit virtue in both character and ability. If the strategy is sound, I don’t mind doing things incorrectly. The guys will see that there are results to be had by watching such performances, which helps. That the team has responded is admirable.”
“Klassy [Heinrich Klaasen] has been in excellent shape, and Abhishek put in the hard work early on. Klassy backs himself to play that way, and it’s good to see it work. We needed wickets to get back in the game, and Mayank [Markande] had to make a special catch. Fortunately, the ball was stopping a little bit, and the bowlers displayed tremendous bravery to put their spoils into action,” he concluded.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are eighth in the IPL 2023 points standings with six points after eight games, despite the victory.
