The 2023 Indian Premier League final between Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans got underway on Monday, May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The fans were amazed to witness Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s brilliance from behind the wickets during the match. The wicket-keeper pulled off a lightning-quick stumping to send Shubman Gill back into the hut.
Batting first, the Gujarat Titans got off to a brilliant start as Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha started the batting onslaught. Gill was given a reprieve early on in the innings, by Deepak Chahar. The Chennai Super Kings cricketer dropped his catch for three runs off Tushar Deshpande’s bowling.
The right-handed batter accelerated the innings after that and quickly raced to 39 runs off just 19 deliveries. However, outstanding glove work from Mahendra Singh Dhoni ended his stay at the crease.
In the seventh over, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a length delivery around the off-stump. Shubman Gill stretched forward to drive the ball but missed it as it turned away sharply. His backfoot was out of the crease while attempting the drive, and Dhoni made no mistake to whip off the bails. The wicket-keeper was very quick to rattle the stumps to dismiss the Gujarat Titans opener.

It was the crowd that suffered the most: Mahendra Singh Dhoni
