Gujarat Titans returned to winning ways as they defeated Punjab Kings in a thrilling encounter played at PCA Stadium, Mohali on 13 April 2023 in the IPL 2023.
Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for GT as Mohammed Shami dismissed Prabhsimran Singh without opening his account. Matthew Short looked in good touch putting pressure on GT bowlers and keeping the momentum going for PBKS.
Joshua Little got rid of Dhawan with a lovely catch by Alazzari Joseph. At the end of the first six overs, PBKS made 52 for 2. Rashid Khan was bought after the field restrictions and dismissed Matthew Short with a lovely googly. Short did not read delivery hitting stumps to leave PBKS in trouble.
Jitesh Sharma showed some intent while Bhaunka Rajapaksa struggled with his timing. On his GT debut, Mohit Sharma dismissed Jitesh Sharma via review. The umpire called not out but on review, it was overturned to out. Jitesh and Bhanuka added 37 runs for the 4th wicket.

It was a disappointing batting performance by PBKS batters especially by Bhaunka Rajapaksa. Shahrukh Khan came to the crease and looked in fine touch hitting some big shots. Despite his efforts, PBKS just managed 153 for 8 in 20 overs.
Gujarat Titans won the match in a thriller
Gujarat Titans registered a thrilling victory with 1 ball to spare. Wriddhiman Saha showed intent right from the word go putting pressure on PBKS bowlers. Kagiso Rabada got the breakthrough dismissing Saha with an easy catch to Short. Saha and Gill added 48 runs for the opening wicket.
Shubman Gill showed his class with attacking strokes and kept GT on course for a win. Sai Sudrhasan struggled against disciplined PBKS bowling. Arshdeep Singh struck to dismiss Sai. Sai and Gill added 41 runs for the 2nd wicket.
Hardik Pandya’s poor form continued providing an easy catch to Prabhsimran Singh at long-on. Gill reached his 2nd fifty this season off 40 deliveries. Sam Curran produced lovely delivery to the castle the stumps of Gill. Rahul Tewaita hit a boundary to help GT win close fought encounter by six wickets with 1 ball to spare.
