Shivam Dube scored a scorching cameo in his team’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore including a huge 111-meter six today (April 17) in the ongoing IPL 2023. A few days after Faf du Plessis blasted a massive 115-meter six at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

CSK’s Dube came very close to accomplishing the same feat. He first hit a 101-meter maximum before launching another ball 10 meters farther into the stands two overs later.

Dube took just a few swings at the third ball he faced after coming in to bat with the score at 90-2 in 9.3 overs. Glenn Maxwell bowled a full-length delivery as the fourth ball of the 11th over. The all-rounder smacked over the bowler’s head to continue his team’s onslaught.

Five balls later, he made a bigger shot in response. This time the bowler was Harshal Patel and he was forced to watch helplessly as his slow full toss was smoked over long-on and into the second tier. The strike measured 111 meters making it one of the IPL’s longest sixes.

Dube was eventually dismissed for a 27-ball 56 after reaching his fifty after 25 deliveries.

Here is how Shivam Dube entertained everyone:

Following Ajinkya Rahane’s dismissal by leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, Dube entered the batting order at No. 4. He wasted little time trying to calm himself down. Hitting Glenn Maxwell over long on for a 101-meter six with his fifth delivery of the game.

Two overs later off Harshal Patel, he would hit an even bigger maximum. This time was taking the downtown route and sending the ball beyond long on by a distance of 111 meters.

In just 27 deliveries Dube and Conway added 50 runs together for the third wicket. Later in just 25 deliveries, he reached his fourth IPL half-century before being bowled out shortly after by Wayne Parnell.

When Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to field, the RCB named an unchanged starting lineup. Sisanda Magala was replaced in the starting XI by Sri Lankan seamer Matheesha Pathirana as CSK continued to be without the services of English all-rounder Ben Stokes.
