Shane Bond has been named as the fast bowling and assistant coach of the Rajasthan Royals side for the upcoming IPL season. He has been working with the Mumbai Indians team since 2015.
The New Zealand pace bowler, Bond helped Mumbai Indians win four IPL titles with their potent bowling line winning in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. He will be eager to win their first prestigious title since Rajasthan Royals won the title in 2008.
Rajasthan Royals reached the finals of the 2022 edition losing to Gujarat Titans. Lasith Malinga was named as bowling coach for 2022 and 2023.
Here we look at the 3 Players That Rajasthan Royals Might Sign
- Lockie Ferguson
Rajasthan Royals has a strong bowling unit comprising of Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Their fifth and sixth bowling options do not lack the venom that would pressure the opponent batters.
Lockie Ferguson will be a great addition to Rajasthan Royals franchise this year. The New Zealand pace bowler played for Kolkata Knight Riders. He picked 13 wickets in the 2021 edition and 12 wickets during the 2022 edition. Ferguson was bought by Gujarat Titans during the 2022 edition.
During the 2023 edition, Ferguson only played only 3 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders. If KKR does not retain him, Rajasthan Royals must buy him. He will have great coordination with Trent Boult as he does with the New Zealand franchise. He will add some tooth for the pace bowling for Rajasthan Royals this season.
- Mitchell Santer
Mitchell Santer has been performing well for the Chennai Super Kings. He is another New Zealand player that Shane Bond could sign during this season for RR. Rajasthan Royals has two quality spinners in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin, but Santer would add some venom in the middle overs.
He could feature on pitches that would turn along with Chahal and Ashwin. Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur is another that helps the bowlers, especially spinners. Santer is capable with the bowl and can bowl in the first six overs.
Santer has not been utilized by the CSK franchise but has top-quality left-handed spinner Ravindra Jadeja, Rajasthan Royals could be a good place for him.
- Logan Van Beek
Logan Van Beek has performed brilliantly for the Netherlands in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. He was brilliant picking up 3 wickets in a famous win over South Africa and scored fifty when the Netherlands were in trouble at 91 for 6 against Sri Lanka.
The 33-year-old all-rounder would be a great addition with both bat and ball. He would not be a great option with both but provided much depth in the batting order. With Rajasthan Royals struggling, Logan Van Beek would be an ideal choice for the Sanju Samson-led side that would help them win matches with their performance.
