During the current IPL 2024 season, a 63-year-old supporter tragically died after being fatally assaulted for cheering when Rohit Sharma was dismissed. The event occurred in Hanmantwadi, Kolhapur. Bandupant Tibile was reportedly attacked with a stick and wooden board by two individuals, Balwant Jhanjge and Sagar Jhanjge, for celebrating Rohit Sharma’s dismissal during the IPL 2024 match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 27.

There was allegedly a physical altercation between the two factions during the game. Balwant and Sagar also sustained injuries in the scuffle and were hospitalized. Tibile was quickly taken to a hospital for medical care, but unfortunately, he passed away due to his injuries. Following Tibile’s death, the local police detained the two accused individuals.

Rohit Sharma was replaced as the captain of Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024, with Hardik Pandya taking over after being traded to the team from Gujarat Titans (GT) in an all-cash deal. Mumbai Indians’ season got off to a rough start with consecutive losses in their first two matches, leaving them at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table.

MI will play their first home game of the season against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, April 1st. RR, with two wins in two matches, currently holds the third position in the standings.

This match will be crucial for Mumbai Indians as they seek to turn their fortunes around and climb up the points table. It will also be an opportunity for Hardik Pandya to showcase his leadership skills and lead the team to victory in his new role as captain.
