Delhi Capitals registered their first win over Lucknow Super Giants in IPL history with a one-sided affair played at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on 12th April 2024. Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan shared the highest 8th wicket partnership in the 26th match of IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on 12th April.
LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as they lost two early wickets of Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Paddikal cheaply. KL Rahul looked impressive putting pressure on DC bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav struck twice in one over getting wickets of Stoinis and Nicolas Pooran in quick succession to leave LSG struggling.
Kuldeep Yadav then struck again getting rid of LSG captain KL Rahul with a review for being caught behind. The umpire gave not out but on review, it was overturned to out. Deepak Hooda, who came as an impact sub was dismissed by Ishant Sharma. Mukesh Kumar produced a beauty to dismiss Krunal Pandya to leave LSG in deep trouble at 94 for 7.
Ayush Badoni looked impressive with his shots while Arshad Khan making his IPL debut also gave good support keeping the scoreboard ticking. Badoni impressed with shots not allowing DC bowlers to settle. Badoni kept the momentum going for LSG completing his fifty off 31 deliveries. Arshad Khan also played a vital role that helped the host post 167 for 7 in 20 overs. Badoni and Arshad added an unbeaten 73 off 45 balls that put DC bowlers under immense pressure. This is the highest partnership for the 8th wicket in IPL history.
Ayush Badoni proved his worth with a quickfire knock in the previous match against Gujarat Titans at the same venue. This time around, Badoni had lots of overs to play and helped LSG to recover to a respectable total. Delhi Capitals registered their first victory over Lucknow Super Giants in IPL history. They defeated LSG by six wickets with 11 balls to spare. Jake Fraser showed intent putting pressure on LSG bowlers and completing his maiden fifty on his debut.

Before this encounter, two other pairs enjoyed the highest partnership for the 8th wicket. James Faulkner and Brad Hodge played for RR against Mumbai Indians in the 2014 edition.
Heinrich Klassen and Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared 68-run partnership for the 8th wicket against Gujarat Titans in the 2023 edition of IPL.
