Chennai Super Kings registered a resounding 63-run win over Gujarat Titans at M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 26th March 2024. After being asked to bat first by GT captain Shubman Gill, Rachin Ravindra looked in sublime touch putting enough pressure on the bowlers right from the word go keeping the momentum going for CSK.
His brilliant knock of 46 ended as a superb stumping by Saha. Ravindra and Gaikwad added 62 runs for the opening wicket. Shivam Dube came to the crease after the fall of Rahane’s wicket. He took the charge smashing 2 sixes in over of Sai Kishore that kept the momentum going for CSK. It was a superb batting display as Dube completed fifty off 22 deliveries.
Sameer Rizvi showed his class in his first innings smashing 2 sixes in Rashid Khan’s over. It was a sensational batting display that helped Chennai Super Kings post 206 for 6 in 20 overs. Gaikwad and Ravindra made 46 runs each.
CSK are the table toppers now in IPL 2024
Chennai Super Kings bowlers kept it tight not allowing the Gujarat Titans batters to score runs easily. David Miller and Sai Sudharsan steadied the innings, putting on 41 runs for the 4th wicket but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tushar Deshpande took 2 wickets each while Daryl Mitchell and Pathirana took 1 wicket each.
CSK restricted Gujarat Titans to 143 for 8 in 20 overs, winning the match by massive 63-run margin. CSK’s bowling and batting looked impressive in the 2 matches they have played so far. Shivam Dube was named the player of the match award for his 51 off 23 deliveries and helped CSK lay a strong foundation for a massive total.
Chennai Super Kings began the Indian Premier League with a dominating win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Chennai on 22nd March. They chased down the target of 174 with Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube putting on superb unbeaten 5th wicket partnership.
