Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals made good use of the conditions in the first six overs against Gujarat Titans and eventually won at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 17th April 2024.

DC captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for the visitors as Ishant Sharma took the wicket of Shubman Gill with a simple catch to Shaw at covers while Mukesh Kumar made an important breakthrough dismissing Saha taking an inside edge onto the stumps.

A superb piece of fielding by Sumit Kumar ran out Sai Sudharsan to leave GT in big trouble. Pant took a superb one-handed catch to dismiss David Miller. The umpire called it not out, but on review, it was overturned to out as it took the edge. It was a disciplined bowling effort by Delhi Capitals bowlers not allowing GT batters to score runs easily. DC bowlers reduced GT to 30 for 4 at the end of six overs.

Delhi Capitals’ new ball bowlers showed great consistency and made life tough for Gujarat Titans batters. After the field restrictions, DC bowlers continued to pile on the pressure picking wickets at regular intervals. Stubbs did the job of dismissing two wickets in an over getting rid of Manohar and Shahrukh Khan.

Mukesh Kumar was the pick of bowlers for DC with 3 for 14 in 2.3 overs. Ishant Sharma and Stubbs took 2 wickets each while Kuldeep Yadav could not pick any wickets but went for 16 runs in his 4 overs. Axar Patel and Khaleel Ahmed took 1 wicket each to bowl out Gujarat Titans for a modest total of 89 in 17.3 overs.

Delhi Capitals would be confident after their huge victory over Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow. David Warner is missing this match due to an injury.

Delhi Capitals Chase Down The Target Quickly

Delhi Capitals chased down the target of 90 runs in just 8.5 overs. Jake Fraser McGurk showed his intent scoring 20 off just 10 deliveries while Shai Hope also impressed with quickfire knock. With this win, DC moved up to 6th in the points table.

DC bowling unit never allowed GT batters to hit big shots and pick wickets in the first six overs.
