Lucknow Super Giants registered an impressive 33-run win over Gujarat Titans in the second match of the doubleheader played at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on 7th April 2024. This is the first time that LSG defeated the Gujarat Titans in IPL after 4 losses. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan got off to a steady start before Yash Thakur got the breakthrough dismissing GT captain Gill and ending 54 runs

LSGopening partnership. It was a disciplined bowling effort by LSG bowlers who kept picking wickets at regular intervals and never allowed them to score runs easily. Yash Thakur broke the backbone of GT batting with disciplined lines and lengths. Ravi Bishnoi took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Kane Williamson who came as an impact player. Krunal Pandya dismissed Sai Sudharsan and BR Sharath to stall the progress of GT innings.

After the second timeout, Yash Thakur struck with two wickets in one over dismissing Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan who did not allow them to hit big shots. Thakur then dismissed Rahul Tewaita and Noor Ahmad in the final over. It was an impressive bowling by Yash Thakur as he ended with figures of 5 for 30 in 3.5 overs.

Mayank Yadav went off the field after delivering 1 over and giving away 13 runs. For his match-winning spell of 5 for 30 in 3.5 overs, Yash Thakur was named the player of the match award. Before this match, Bangladesh Mustizur Rahman of CSK held the record of best figures with 4 for 29 in 4 overs during the opening match of IPL 2024 against RCB at Chepauk.

Lucknow Super Giants registered their 3rd successive win this season

Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start for the hosts as Quinton de Kock and Paddikal fell cheaply. KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis steadied the ship putting on 73 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Marcus Stoinis looked impressive putting pressure on GT bowlers with well made half-century. Nicolas Pooran struggled before Ayush Badoni played a quickfire cameo that helped LSG post 163 for 5. Badoni and Pooran added 31 runs for the 5th wicket.

With this brilliant victory, LSG moved to number 3 in the points table and would look to continue their winning momentum. After losing to RR, KL Rahul and Co won against Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and then GT. Out of these three, two of them came at home.
