IPL 2024: Gurnoor Brar To Replace Sushant Mishra In The Gujarat Titans Squad For The Remaining Matches

Gurnoor Brar will step in for Sushant Mishra in the Gujarat Titans (GT) squad for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While the exact reasons are undisclosed, it seems the left-arm pacer suffered an injury during practice.

Mishra was acquired by the Titans in the IPL 2024 auction for ₹2.2 crore, following his remarkable consistency in domestic cricket, where he excelled in taking wickets in various formats. Despite this, he did not appear in any of the 10 matches for the franchise.

Meanwhile, Brar made his IPL debut last year for Punjab Kings against Lucknow Super Giants, recording figures of 0/42 off three overs. Brar was enlisted by the Gujarat-based franchise for his reserve price of INR 50 lakhs.

Furthermore, the right-arm pacer worked as a net bowler for Mumbai Indians during the 2019 season before making his official debut. In December 2021, Brar eventually made his List-A debut for Punjab and subsequently participated in other formats as well.

He gained attention during the Ranji Trophy 2023 match, contributing 64 runs and forming a 100-run partnership with Siddarth Kaul, aiding Punjab in achieving a remarkable victory over Jammu & Kashmir.

Gujarat Titans deal a notable defeat to Chennai Super Kings

Gujarat Titans faced Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad on Friday (May 10). The opening pair of GT, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, displayed excellence with their innings, propelling the team to surpass the three-figure mark in under 10 overs.

Gill (104 off 55) and Sudharsan (103 off 51) delivered impressive performances, enabling the home team to amass a massive total of 231 runs on the scoreboard.

In response, the Super Kings encountered early setbacks, losing three wickets within the powerplay overs. However, the partnership between Daryl Mitchell (63) and Moeen Ali (56) showcased promise, positioning the team well.

However, the remainder of the batting lineup couldn’t muster enough potency, resulting in Chennai’s defeat by 35 runs. Mohit Sharma emerged as the standout bowler for the Gujarat Titans, concluding with figures of 3/31.
