Kuldeep Yadav proved to be a match-winner for Delhi Capitals as he grabbed figures of 2 for 25 including 2 big wickets in the 18th over against Rajasthan Royals played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 7th May 2024.

The match was on a knife edge, but Kuldeep Yadav changed the course of the game picking wickets of Ferreira and then R Ashwin in the same over-to-tilt match in favor of Delhi Capitals. For his match-winning efforts, Kuldeep was named the player of the match award.

Kuldeep Yadav has shown tremendous performance for Delhi Capitals this season. He missed a few matches due to injuries that led to the dismal bowling effort. Pant and Co are in contention for qualifying for the playoff stage. Kuldeep is currently the second leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets at an economy of 8.20 runs per over.

“I learn a lot from him I talk a lot with him. He bowled well today as well, and took three crucial wickets. It’s like a competition as well because he’s the main spinner of the opposition team and we also have top spinners in our team. So I always look to dominate,” Kuldeep said in a video on the IPL website.

“I always think about what the bowler must be expecting and what the field that he has set. The fine leg was up and the square leg and deep square leg was there. I thought he could bowl a short ball or a slower one. That’s why I tried the lap shot and luckily it connected well and got a boundary. On the very next delivery, I tried to play a reverse scoop, but it didn’t connect well if that connected well that would’ve been a boundary too,” he added.

Performance of R Ashwin Against Delhi Capitals

The veteran off-spinner R Ashwin was introduced into the attack and dismissed the dangerous Jake Fraser McGurk. He then got rid of Abhishek Porel and Axar Patel making life tough for Delhi Capitals batters.

Ashwin finished with figures of 3 for 24 in 4 overs which stalled the momentum in middle overs. Despite his brilliance, Delhi Capitals posted 221 for 8 in 20 overs which was eventually enough.
