IPL 2024: Jason Roy Reveals Reasons About Not Joining KKR
Jason Roy talks about about not joining KKR squad for IPL 2024

England’s aggressive opener Jason Roy has opted out of IPL 2024 due to personal reasons. He looked impressive in last year’s season for Kolkata Knight Riders and provided some flying starts to the team.

Roy played a total of 8 matches (8 innings) last year with 285 runs including the best score of 61. During last year’s season, the aggressive opener scored just 2 half-centuries. Despite his efforts, Kolkata Knight Riders could not qualify for the knockout stage.

Roy made his IPL debut in 2017 and has played a total of 21 matches so far. He made 614 runs with the best score of 91 not out during the 2018 season.

“After much consideration, I have made the tough decision to miss this year’s IPL. Having been away since the start of January I need to get back to my family and have a refresher before a very busy year ahead. I will be supporting my friends and teammates at KKR throughout the tournament and wish them the best of luck,” Jason Roy said in a statement.

Phil Salt has been named his replacement for IPL 2024. Salt was not bought by any franchise during the auction. Kolkata Knight Riders have bought Phil Salt for IPL 2024 with a base price of 1.5 Crore. He featured for Delhi Capitals last year and showed his batting skills. His ability to strike big shots makes him a dangerous batter which would be helpful for Kolkata Knight Riders as they struggled big time with power-hitter.

KKR has good-quality foreign players including Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine who can change the fortune of the game with their abilities. Kolkata Knight Riders would be hoping to start the 2024 IPL season on a winning note as they face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening match on 23rd March.

Salt would look to solve the problems of Kolkata Knight Riders opening partnerships that they had last year. Gautam Gambhir makes a comeback into the KKR setup for this year and hopes to create magic as they won two IPL titles under his captaincy.
