IPL 2024: Jay Shah And Ishan Kishan Spotted Talking After GT vs MI Match

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were omitted from the BCCI central contracts roster due to their decision to abstain from participating in Ranji Trophy matches last month.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah attended the Gujarat Titans (GT) versus Mumbai Indians (MI) match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 24, during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

The match was an intense encounter, featuring Hardik Pandya leading Mumbai Indians against Shubman Gill, the inexperienced captain of Gujarat Titans. The game remained closely contested until the end, resulting in another thrilling last-ball finish in the prestigious tournament.

Following the match, where Gujarat emerged victorious by six runs, Shah descended to the field to congratulate the players. Ishan Kishan, a member of the Mumbai team in the IPL, was observed conversing with the 35-year-old official, and both appeared to be smiling.

The footage of their interaction quickly caught the attention of fans and rapidly spread across various social media platforms.

Interestingly, Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were excluded from the BCCI central contracts list last month due to their failure to adhere to specific instructions from the board to participate in the Ranji Trophy 2024. Following the announcement of the central contracts, Shreyas returned to his domestic team, Mumbai, and competed in the semifinals and final matches.

However, Kishan’s state team, Jharkhand, did not progress beyond the group stage, and the left-handed batsman did not feature in any matches throughout the campaign. Shreyas featured in the opening two Test matches against England before being dropped from the lineup for the last three matches.

Gujarat Titans clinch a thrilling victory over Mumbai Indians in the final over

Hardik Pandya’s return to his home ground was underwhelming, as his team endured a painful six-run loss against a disciplined Gujarat side on Sunday. The Baroda all-rounder won the toss and chose to field first, but the Titans managed to reach 168/6 in their allotted 20 overs on a challenging pitch.

Jasprit Bumrah was exceptional, claiming figures of 3/14 from his four overs. South African pace sensation Gerald Coetzee also impressed in his IPL debut, securing a couple of wickets.

In response, Mumbai had a disappointing start as they lost Kishan in the opening over. Former MI captain Rohit Sharma scored 43 runs off 29 balls, including seven fours and a six. The young trio of Naman Dhir, Dewald Brevis, and Tilak Varma showed promise during the chase but lost their wickets at crucial moments.

With 19 runs needed off the final over, Umesh Yadav bowled to Hardik. The Mumbai skipper managed a six and a four before Yadav struck back with two consecutive wickets. The last two balls resulted in just two runs as the hosts secured a thrilling six-run victory.
