The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will take place on Sunday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, which is decked out. The season’s top team, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will square off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the season finale.

With 22 points, KKR emerged victorious, followed by SRH with 17 points. They faced off in the first qualifier, which Kolkata won handily by eight wickets to advance straight to the finals. In contrast, SRH advanced to the championship game on Saturday after defeating the Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2.

In contrast, the team captained by Pat Cummins had an excellent League stage performance and came in second place overall. But in the playoffs, they gave in to pressure when playing the team led by Shreyas Iyer.

However, they turned things around in the Qualifier 2, defeating the Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs to get to the final and face Kolkata Knight Riders. They haven’t advanced to the event final since losing to the Chennai Super Kings in 2018, which was unfortunate.

What happens if the IPL 2024 final between KKR and SRH gets washed out?

The Indian Premier League final day’s weather forecast indicates that there will be 100% cloud cover during the game. Rain is therefore a possibility during the contest. This got me wondering what would happen if there was no rain in the IPL 2024 final.

IPL fans don’t have to worry about it, though. The BCCI has already taken preventive action. The match will ‘ start afresh’ on Monday, even if only a few overs were bowled if bad weather on Sunday prevents the match from continuing and there is no means to resume.

The final has a reserve day scheduled. However, the deadline will be extended by up to 120 minutes on the designated day to guarantee a full match. Therefore, you are incorrect if you believe that KKR finished first in the table and might win the title if it rains on Sunday in Chennai.

Given that both KKR and SRH have spent two months preparing for the IPL 2024, it could not have been fair in any case, and they both deserve a chance to show who is the clear winner in the championship game. But if a full game isn’t available on reserve day either, the squad with the most points after the league stage wins, and Shreyas Iyer and his boys become the champions.
