KKR will see the return of Shreyas Iyer as the captain while Sunrisers Hyderabad named Pat Cummins as captain role replacing Aiden Markram. Both teams would look to start the season on a winning note with good performances.

Sunrisers Hyderabad finished last in the points table KKR could not qualify for the playoffs stage.

Few player battles would decide the match’s outcome and help their team start with a win.

Here we look at the 3 Player Battles Between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in match 3 of IPL 2024.

  1. Travis Head vs Mitchell Starc

Sunrisers Hyderabad bought century-maker in the finals of WC 2023, Travis Head. He is likely to open the innings along with Abhishek Sharma. Head is known to put pressure on the opponent bowlers and create enough doubts in the bowlers’ minds.

Mitchell Starc is returning to the Indian Premier League and bought by KKR for whopping 24.75 Crore. The left-arm pace bowler will be looking to pick early wickets, especially Head to make sure that KKR does not allow SRH to provide a flying start.

  1. Pat Cummins vs Shreyas Iyer

Sunrisers Hyderabad has appointed Pat Cummins for this season. He has performed brilliantly help Australia to win the 2023 World Cup title defeating India. Cummins will be eager to use the short ball tactics against Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer.

Pat Cummins will be looking to put Shreyas Iyer under immense pressure which would put the Kolkata Knight Riders under some pressure. On the other hand, Iyer has some issues with the back and struggled coming into the tournament.

It promises to be a great battle as both team captains would look to outdo each other, and they start with a victory.

  1. Sunil Narine vs Heinrich Klassen

Sunil Narine has been the top performer for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL. Klassen looked in sublime form for the last few months during the ICC World Cup 2023 where South Africa reached the semi-finals.

Klassen had a tremendous SA tournament for the Durban Super Giants and played with lots of freedom. The main challenge would be to face Sunil Narine on a slowish pitch at Gardens.

Narine has dismissed Klassen once in IPL history giving away just 20 runs from 11 deliveries. It will be interesting to see the approach of Klassen in front of Sunil Narine.
