The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises are keen to build a strong squad for the upcoming 2024 season. Currently, the trade window is open for all ten franchises, in which they are allowed to purchase or swap players ahead of the mini-auction. The deadline for the franchises to submit their final retention list ahead of the auction is Sunday, November 26.
So far, there have been a few trades so far between the franchises, while a few are in the process of finalising the deal. The first trade activity for the upcoming season was Mumbai Indians signing Romario Shepherd for the upcoming season. He was traded to the Mumbai Indians from the Lucknow Super Giants for his existing price of ₹50 lakh. It is the only trade deal so far for the Mumbai Indians.
Romario Shepherd has played only four IPL matches so far. He has also represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has taken three wickets at an average of 32.67 and an economy rate of 10.89. Overall, Shepherd has played 99 T20 matches, picking up 109 wickets at an average of 23 and an economy rate of 9.02.

Rajasthan Royals trade Devdutt Padikkal for Avesh Khan
The second trade deal ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 auction was between the Rajasthan Royals and the Lucknow Super Giants. The Rajasthan Royals traded Devdutt Padikkal for Avesh Khan to the Lucknow Super Giants. Avesh Khan was signed for INR 10 cr, while Devdutt Padikkal was signed for INR 7.75 crore.
Avesh Khan has played 47 matches in the IPL. He has taken 55 wickets at an average of 26.33 and an economy rate of 8.64. The pacer had a good season for the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022, however, he couldn’t replicate the performance in the following edition. Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal has played 57 IPL matches, scoring 1521 runs at an average of 27.65 and a strike rate of 125.39. He has one hundred and nine fifties.
