Delhi Capitals have named Jake Fraser-McGurk as Lungi Ngidi’s replacement for the upcoming 2024 Indian Premier League season, which kicks off on March 22. The pacer has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.
Lungi Ngidi was signed by the Delhi Capitals for INR 50 Lakh. He has played 14 matches in the T20 league picking up 25 wickets. He is recovering from a back injury he suffered during the SA20. Subsequently, he will be missing the entire Indian Premier League 2024 season. In his absence, the Delhi Capitals named the Australian cricketer Jake Fraser-McGurk to the squad.
“Delhi Capitals (DC) named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024,” wrote the IPL announcing the latest signing.
Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 37 T20 matches, scoring 645 runs at an average of 20.15, including three fifties. He made his debut for Australia earlier this year against the West Indies in Sydney. The right-handed batter will join the Delhi Capitals for his base price of INR 50 lac.

The tournament marks his return to competitive cricket after a long break since the horrific accident. Talking about Rishabh Pant’s comeback, Delhi Capitals assistant coach, Pravin Amre said,
“As a coaching unit and personally, it was really pleasing to see him bat. It didn’t feel like he was batting after a long time, the bat swing was vintage. We have to give credit to him, the way he has worked hard throughout the year is not easy. It shows how mentally strong and hungry he is.”
