The Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata is set to host the Kolkata Knight Riders taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, March 23 in Match 3 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Shreyas Iyer will be leading the Kolkata Knight Riders, while Pat Cummins has been handed over the leadership duties by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Kolkata Knight Riders had a decent season in 2023, but they failed to qualify for the knockouts. They finished seventh on the table last season, ending up with fourteen points. Meanwhile, the Sunrisers Hyderabad finished last on the points table in 2023. They won just four out of their fourteen matches. Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer will be keen to make an impact on his return to the franchise. He will be key to their success in the ongoing tournament. Ahead of their opening match, Iyer will be eyeing to achieve the 100 sixes milestone in the IPL. He is just one six away from the landmark. In 101 matches, he has scored 2776 runs at a strike rate of 125.38.

Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal is also three sixes away from completing 100 sixes in the Indian Premier League. He has scored 2597 runs in the tournament, at a strike rate of 133.66, including a century and thirteen fifties.

100 wickets in IPL

Andre Russell is also approaching a landmark as he seeks to complete 100 wickets in the Indian Premier League. He has been an asset for the franchise in the all-rounder’s department over the years. Russell has taken 96 wickets in 112 matches, including two four-wicket hauls, and a five-wicket haul.

Fourth-highest wicket-taker in IPL

Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken 170 wickets in the Indian Premier League. He needs four more to become the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Meanwhile, he needs only two to move up to second in the list of Most wickets taken by a pacer in the Indian Premier League. Dwayne Bravo currently leads the fast bowlers list with 183 wickets.
