According to reports by Indian Express, Chennai Super Kings have been given a major boost as their key player Mustafizur Rahman will return for their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders to be played at Chepauk, Chennai on 8th April 2024.
CSK missed his service during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will look to return to winning ways after losing 2 successive matches against Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is a huge boost for CSK as they had Tushar Deshpande and Mukesh Chaudhary as their pace bowling attack against SRH.
The defending Champions CSK played a total of 4 matches so far with 2 wins and 2 losses. They began the tournament with 6 wickets win against RCB and then thrashed GT at home. Their performances dipped as they lost to Delhi Capitals at Vizag and handed a 6-wicket loss to SRH at Hyderabad.
Rahman had to leave for Bangladesh before CSK’s match against SRH due to some visa formalities for the T20 World Cup to be played in the West Indies and the USA. His absence led CSK to lose by six wickets.
“Without a doubt, it’s It’s part of the IPL. He’s not here, so we can’t use him,” Fleming said after the game. “But having injuries and losing players in an IPL is part of the process. We had a chance to introduce Mukesh Chaudhary today. He was good for us a while back. It wasn’t his day. But that’s part of the IPL. It’s managing players, and when you do find yourself a little bit short on firepower, it’s finding the new hero.”
Rahman’s key to success for CSK In IPL 2024
The Bangladesh pacer was bought by the CSK franchise for Rs 2 Crore during the auction. He was at his prime best during the opening match against RCB, picking 4 for 29, and was named player of the match award for his match-winning efforts.
He then followed with figures of 2 for 30 against Gujarat Titans at Chepauk. CSK struggled against Delhi Capitals where Rahman took 1 for 40 in his 4 overs.
CSK will see the return of Rahman and Pathirana in the bowling attack which would be a major threat for KKR at Chepauk.
