IPL 2024

Punjab Kings will face Mumbai Indians in match 33 of IPL 2024 to be played at Mullanpur on 18th April. It promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams need a win to stay alive in the tournament.

Sam Curran would captain the PBKS side as Dhawan is ruled out for 7 to 10 days. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians need their captain Hardik Pandya come up with an all-round performance that would be useful for Team India.

Both teams will look to prove their worth which might decide their fate in the tournament and hope for top-quality players to shine for their respective teams.

Here we look at the 3 player battles between PBKS and MI in match number 33 of IPL 2024:

  1. Rohit Sharma vs Kagiso Rabada

Rohit Sharma looked impressive in the previous match against Chennai Super Kings. He showed intent right from word go putting enough pressure on the bowlers in the first six overs laying a strong foundation along with Ishan Kishan. On the other hand, Rabada bowled superbly against Rajasthan Royals grabbing 2 wickets and giving away 16 runs in his 4 overs.

Rabada would look forward to continuing his impressive form in this year’s IPL. Rabada has dismissed Rohit Sharma plenty of times in international cricket. During the IPL, the South African pacer got rid of the former MI captain twice. It will be an interesting battle in the first six overs which might decide the fate of the game.

  1. Jasprit Bumrah vs Bairstow

Jasprit Bumrah struggled in the previous match against Chennai Super Kings. Despite not picking any wickets, Bumrah went for just 27 runs in his 4 overs. On the other hand, Bairstow has been struggling for form while opening the innings for Punjab Kings this year.

Bumrah has dismissed Bairstow a lot of times in international cricket. The star Indian pace bowler would be looking to do early damage and pick the wicket of Bairstow to put PBKS’s batting order under pressure.

He would be looking to dismiss Bairstow for the first time in IPL history and hope to make life tough for the England explosive opener.

  1. Liam Livingstone vs Shreyas Gopal

Liam Livingstone made a valuable contribution for PBKS against Rajasthan Royals. He scored quickfire 21 off 14 balls which steadied the innings after a disappointing start.

On the other hand, Shreyas Gopal was given just 1 over and took the wicket of Rachin Ravindra. The leg spinner Shreyas would be a major threat in the middle overs against Livingstone.

Shreyas Gopal would look to keep him quiet in the middle overs and also pick the wicket of Livingstone which will put pressure on PBKS’s batting lineup.
