Delhi Capitals kept their hopes alive for the playoff stage as they registered a 10-run win over Mumbai Indians in match 43 of IPL 2024 played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 27th April.
It was a superb batting performance by DC batters as Jake Fraser McGurk’s 84 off 27 balls laid a strong foundation for a massive total. Stubbs, Pant, and Hope scored quickfire cameos that helped DC post 257 for 4 in 20 overs. DC bowlers held onto their nerves to control the strong MI batting lineup.
David Warner has not featured for Delhi Capitals since their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. He suffered a finger with Lucknow Super Giants.
Ishant Sharma suffered a back spasm right before their game against SRH and has not featured for DC since then. Assistant DC coach Pravin Amre said that Ishant Sharma is expected to play next week while Warner’s recovery will take longer.
“Ishant has been having back spasms. He will also take a week to recover. By the time we return to Delhi he will be fit,” he added. “Warner will take 1-2 weeks to recover. His scans revealed an injury.”
“He played three games for Dubai Capitals and our scouting team was very keen on him and once we got an opportunity, we brought him. He had to wait four games but when we saw him in the nets, we knew he had something,” Amre added.
