The Punjab Kings issued a clarification statement on Shashank Singh’s signing at the 2024 Indian Premier League auction on Tuesday, December 19 in Dubai. They expressed that there was confusion over his signing due to two players, named Shashank Singh on the auction list.
During the 2024 Auction, the Punjab Kings signed Shashank Singh, who plays for Chattisgarh, for a base price of INR 20 Lakhs. After his signing, the Punjab Kings seemed a bit confused and had a chat with the auctioneer, Mallika Sagar. There were two Shashank Singh-named players on the auction list, as the other Shashank Singh plays for Bengal. Several media houses reported that they had erroneously bought the wrong Shashank Singh. However, the Punjab Kings have issued a statement regarding the matter.
“Media have reported on Shashank Singh being bought erroneously by the Punjab Kings. The Kings would like to clarify that the player was always on our target list. The confusion was due to 2 players of the same name being on the list. We are delighted to have him on board and see him contribute to our success,” said the franchise in their statement.
