Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting is excited about Rishabh Pant’s return to the team ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League season. He has been declared fit by the BCCI medical team to participate in the tournament, which kicks off on March 22.
Rishabh Pant has joined the team and begun his preparations for the tournament. The 2024 edition marks his return to the sport after a long break since the horrific car accident. Ricky Ponting expressed that they missed the wicket-keeper batter in the last season. He said,
“We missed him incredibly last year. The whole tournament missed him. Rishabh brings so much energy to the team. He’s got that smile on his face, he’s hitting the ball as good as ever and he tends to lift all of his teammates around him.”
We’re getting some volume work done: Ricky Ponting
The Delhi Capitals kicked off their first training session on Thursday in Visakhapatnam, which will be their home for the first two matches in the 2024 Indian Premier League season. Ricky Ponting expressed that it is exciting to see the talent in the Delhi Capitals team for the upcoming season. He said,
“What I saw today was very exciting, very promising. It’s great to be back with the Delhi Capitals family.”
“It’s just the start. We don’t expect to be practising at our absolute best right now. We’re not even so much looking forward to the first game yet. We’re getting some volume work done,” he added
The Delhi Capitals will kick off their campaign in the 2024 Indian Premier League season on Saturday, March 23 against the Punjab Kings in Chandigarh. They finished ninth on the points table last season with just five wins from fourteen matches. They will be hoping to turn the tables in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League.
