Riyan Parag scored 2nd successive Ranji Trophy century

The Indian Premier League 2023 was a disappointing season for Rajasthan Royals player Riyan Parag who could not leave a mark. However, he returned to form with two back-to-back centuries in the first two rounds of the 2024 Ranji Trophy for Assam.

He scored a sensational 155 off 86 deliveries in the 2nd innings of 1st round match against Chhattisgarh. Despite his efforts, Assam lost the match by 10 wickets. Riyan Parag showed his class with another superb century in the 1st innings of the 2nd round match against Kerala. He made 116 with 16 fours and 3 sixes but Assam was bowled out cheaply.

“I am expressing myself more on the field now. My mindset is to hit the first ball, for a six if it is in my range and I don’t mind getting out to play that shot. During the off-season, I fine-tuned my game with my dad Parag Das and Zubin Bharucha. I always had the shots, but I realized that I needed to practice a lot. Cricket is all about muscle memory. So I try to be more repetitive in practice and try to implement that in game situation,” Parag was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

“The IPL is going to be huge for me. I am just thinking of carrying my domestic form into the IPL. I know it is a different tournament, the bowlers are more skilful but my skill doesn’t go away. I might be batting up the order this time in the IPL. I have always batted at number four for Assam and if you do something consistently you are tuned in for that,” the Rajasthan Royals player added.

He was retained by the Rajasthan Royals franchise before IPL 2024 auction. Riyan Parag would look to continue his superb form during this year’s edition and help Rajasthan Royals win their second-ever title.

Riyan Parag’s performance in IPL 2023

The dashing batter from Riyan Parag had a disappointing outing in the Indian Premier League 2023. He scored just 78 runs in the 7 matches he played during last year’s tournament with the best score of 20.

He would be hoping to prove his worth with some lovely hitting and make sure that Rajasthan Royals leave the disappointment of not qualifying for the playoff stage.
