Rohit Sharma will achieve major milestone as he will play his 200th game for Mumbai Indians against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 27th March 2024.
Mumbai Indians lost their first match against Gujarat Titans by six runs at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Rohit looked in good touch putting pressure on the GT bowlers. He was dismissed for 43, which laid a strong foundation for a win for MI. However, MI could not chase down the target as Hardik Pandya could not complete the chase coming at number 7.
Rohit has been the backbone of the Mumbai Indians batting lineup for quite a long time. He has played 199 matches for MI so far with 5084 runs (195 innings) including 34 half-centuries and 1 century with the best score of 109, not out against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Current Indian captain Rohit was appointed the captain of the MI side in 2013 replacing Ricky Pointing. Under his captaincy, he won five titles including in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. Mumbai Indians progressed into the playoff stage during last year’s edition.
They made it into the qualifier 2 losing to Gujarat Titans. It was an impressive performance by Rohit and Co. as they did not have Jasprit Bumrah in their bowling ranks. Rohit Sharma has captained Mumbai Indians in 157 matches with 87 wins, 67 losses, and 4 ties with a win percentage of 55.06.
Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the captain of the Mumbai Indians franchise this season which did not go well with fans. He is currently the fourth-highest leading run-getter in IPL history. Rohit made a total of 6254 runs from 244 matches (239 innings) with 1 century and 42 half-centuries to his name.
Rohit Sharma would be hoping to provide a flying start against Sunrisers Hyderabad today and lead Mumbai Indians to their first win of the tournament.
