IPL 2024

Rajasthan Royals will face Punjab Kings in match 27 of IPL 2024 to be played at Mullanpur. It promises to be an exciting contest as both teams are coming off with a narrow loss.

RR lost their previous match against Gujarat Titans in a last-ball thriller while Punjab Kings fell short of the target by just 2 runs. It promises to be an exciting battle as RR and PBKS look to make a comeback.

Both teams have quality players who can change the course of the match with their abilities.

Here we look at the 3 player battles between RR and PBKS in match 27 of IPL 2024:

  1. Kagiso Rabada vs Jos Buttler

Kagiso Rabada had a decent outing in the previous match against SRH. He bowled well in the first six overs but troubled SRH openers. On the other hand, Jos Buttler failed to contribute much against the Gujarat Titans.

Buttler would be eager to showcase his domination over Rabada. The South African pace bowler has dismissed Buttler twice in tournament history. Rabada would be eager to dismiss Buttler cheaply, allowing PBKS to restrict Rajasthan Royals to a chaseable total.

It will be an interesting battle in the first six overs which might decide the fate of the encounter.

  1. Trent Boult vs Shikhar Dhawan

Trent Boult bowled with great control in the previous match against GT. He did not allow openers to score runs easily and kept scoring under check.

On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Dhawan, who led PBKS struggling in the first six overs. It will be an interesting battle in the first six overs which might make things interesting.

Dhawan would be looking to showcase his mettle putting pressure on Boult and helping PBKS post a decent total in the first six overs. PBKS captain should lead from the front as he scored 86 runs from 77 deliveries against Boult.

  1. Shashank Singh vs Yuzvendra Chahal

Punjab Kings had a bright spot as Shashank Singh almost took PBKS to a famous win over SRH. He made an unbeaten 46 with some lovely shots putting SRH bowlers under pressure.

On the other hand, Chahal took 2 wickets in the previous match. His bowling has gone a notch up and will be looking to continue his superb form. Shashank and Chahal never faced each other in IPL history.

Chahal could operate in the middle overs and also can contribute well in the death overs. He would be hoping to keep the explosive batter quiet and take his wicket.
