IPL 2024: Shane Bond Quits Association With Mumbai Indians

Former cricketer Shane Bond’s association with the Mumbai Indians came to an end on Wednesday, October 18, confirmed the franchise. He was the bowling coach of the team in the Indian Premier League and the Head coach of the MI Emirates in the International League T20 team. He has won four illustrious trophies during his association with the franchise.

The Mumbai Indians took to social media to share the announcement. Shane Bond joined the franchise in 2015. He had a nine-year stint with the team as the bowling coach, and later as a head coach of the MI Emirates side in the inaugural season of the ILT20 tournament. He won the 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) editions with the Mumbai Indians.

“Mumbai Indians Bowling Coach and MI Emirates Head Coach Shane Bond moves on from the MI #One Family,” wrote the Mumbai Indians.

“One of the greatest ever bowlers of his generation, Shane’s approach to bowling was that of an artist, able to master the conditions and deliver for the team, as a player, leader and then as a coach,” they added.

Shane Bond expressed that his association with the Mumbai Indians has been incredible over the last nine years. He thanked the franchise and the owners and added that he has been lucky to work with many great players and staff members. In a statement released by the Mumbai Indians, Shane Bond said,

“I would like to thank the Ambani family for the opportunity to be part of MI One Family for the last nine seasons. It has been an incredible experience with so many great memories on and off the field. I have been lucky enough to work with and have strong relationships with so many great people, both players and staff. I will miss them all and wish them all the best for the future. Finally thanks to the MI Paltan for their support as well.”
