Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis revealed that Virat Kohli is one of his favourite batting partners. He expressed that he has been in awe of the infectious energy that Virat Kohli brings onto the field. The duo will be seen playing together in the upcoming 2024 Indian Premier League, which kicks off on March 22 in Chennai.
The duo of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli will be key for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming season. They had a great 2023 season for the franchise. Faf du Plessis was the second-leading run-scorer in the tournament, with 730 runs. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli managed 639 runs in the season. Speaking to Star Sports, Faf du Plessis said,
“Batting is probably the other thing that the equally we click, you know, it is unbelievable batting with him. He’s one of my favourite guys to bat with. He brings out so much energy in me, like sometimes I feel like I’m fist-bumping my glove through his hand because he gets so passionate. Him being out there in the middle, which is infectious, the way he gives that energy, and I remember being in the opposition and how that really is.”
“Let’s hope for that amount of energy because it was like this guy is just always on. How did you manage it? So it’s really infectious, the same thing on the field, because, like catching balls, we are both very competitive, and I make sure we get those good catches for the team. So he’s really important to me in terms of the field. I think, indeed, so many things fast as a team. But fielding is, he said, so he sets the time for the energy on the field,” he added.
Faf du Plessis shares his and Virat Kohli’s common traits
Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis further shares some common traits between him and Virat Kohli. He expressed that the two like to gym, are foodies, and also connect over fashion. He further spoke about Kohli’s passion for watches. Faf du Plessis said,
“We spent a lot of time in the gym together. We both love food. We are both really into our fashion. That’s another thing that we spend a lot of time talking about. You know, the way we dress and the way we style our clothes, we would send each other pictures of outfits and stuff like that.”
“So we’re very girly and that, and he’s been a terrible influence on me when it comes to watches. But he’s got a real passion for watches. But, yeah, there are so many things. Uh, obviously, now it’s family. He’s got a daughter. I’ve got two daughters. He’s got his second child now as well, our wives and our kids and stuff, having them at similar ages really connected on that front as well,” he added.
