IPL 2024: Virat Kohli’s Remarkable Response To Wriddhiman Saha’s “Runs Roko, Match Kheecho” Request Goes Viral

Whenever there’s a discussion between a wicketkeeper and a player on the field, clips of it are captured by the stump mic. During the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Gujarat Titans (GT), an interesting conversation unfolded between Virat Kohli and Wriddhiman Saha.

Despite not having a substantial total to defend, Saha encouraged his teammates to give their all in halting the flow of runs. However, Kohli had a clever response ready. The conversation occurred when RCB had lost two wickets for 100 runs, and their scoring rate had slowed due to quick dismissals.

In an attempt to shift the momentum in his team’s favour, Saha urged his teammates to halt the flow of runs, stating, “Runs roko, match kheecho” (stop the runs, extend the match). In response, Virat humorously remarked, “Aise kaise kheech loge” (I’ll see how you will stretch the match).

Despite the Titans staging a courageous comeback in the match, claiming a total of six wickets to almost derail the Royal Challengers’ chase, Dinesh Karthik ensured his team crossed the finish line despite the setback.

In terms of the game, Mohammed Siraj emerged as the hero for RCB with his two early wickets of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill. Following the match, Siraj received accolades from Royal Challengers Bengaluru assistant coach Adam Griffith for his outstanding performance.

“The start of the tournament was not that great, especially in the powerplay. That is something we really focused on. Recently we made sure that we really worked hard to get better starts for the group.”

”Tonight, it was one of the better ones and it was good to see the hard work come off,” Griffith said in the post-match press conference.

The 46-year-old also praised Siraj, referring to him as the team’s leader.

“Siraj is the leader of our group. He is our most experienced bowler especially among the Indian quicks and with our international guys as well.”

”Having him up and running and bowling well, but not only that, it’s his body language, his aggression, him trying to get wickets, he is such an important part of what he do,” RCB assistant coach asserted.
