IPL 2024: [WATCH]- Anshul Kamboj Dismisses Travis Head On A No-Ball On Debut In The MI vs SRH Match

Debutant Anshul Kamboj from Mumbai Indians (MI) handed an early opportunity to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Travis Head during the IPL 2024 match at Wankhede on Monday (May 6). At the time, Head was batting on 24 off 16 deliveries when Kamboj’s delivery bowled him off a no-ball.

The incident occurred in the fifth over of Sunrisers’ innings when Kamboj delivered a full-length ball that straightened past the edge and hit the off stump as Head attempted to maneuver it towards the off side.

However, Kamboj had overstepped, resulting in a no-ball. To compound the error, Head capitalized on the free hit by striking a boundary, which was also a no-ball, resulting in an additional boundary from the subsequent free hit.

Head received another lifeline in the eighth over when Nuwan Thushara, fielding at deep third man, dropped a catch off Kamboj’s delivery when Head was on 44 runs.

Travis Head has been among the top scorers in IPL 2024, accumulating 444 runs in nine matches, with one century and three half-centuries to his name. The left-handed batsman, aged 30, was previously dropped on zero by Riyan Parag in the match against Rajasthan Royals in the previous game.

MI choose to field first against SRH in the IPL 2024 game

MI skipper Hardik Pandya, having lost their prior encounter against SRH by 31 runs in a high-scoring match, won the toss and opted to bowl. At the time of reporting, SRH were 92/3 in 11 overs, with Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy batting, while Head had departed after a brisk 30-ball 48.

Mumbai, languishing at the bottom of the points table with only three victories in 11 matches, are no longer in contention for the playoffs. The five-time champions are now playing solely for pride and seek to avenge their earlier defeat against Sunrisers.

In contrast, SRH currently hold the fourth position in the points table, having secured six victories in 10 matches. They narrowly defeated RR by a solitary run in their previous outing, a thrilling encounter.

Led by Pat Cummins, the team aims to sustain their winning streak, aiming to secure maximum victories in the league stage to secure a top-two finish, thus ensuring multiple opportunities to qualify for the final.
