IPL 2024: [WATCH]- Axar Patel Dismissed Marcus Stoinis With His First Ball In The DC vs LSG Match

Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Axar Patel had an impressive start with the ball, dismissing Marcus Stoinis with the first delivery of his spell against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. This dismissal marked the visiting team’s third wicket loss within the powerplay.

In a crucial game chasing 209 runs, the Super Giants lost both openers by the third over, with veteran seamer Ishant Sharma taking both wickets.

With two right-handers at the crease, Rishabh Pant quickly brought in left-arm spinner Axar Patel for a favorable matchup. The India international immediately made an impact, delivering a textbook left-arm spinner’s dismissal.

Axar delivered a tossed-up ball that drifted away after pitching. Marcus Stoinis charged down the pitch for a wild swing but missed entirely, leading to an easy stumping for Pant. This dismissal reduced LSG to 24/3 in just 3.1 overs.

After being asked to bat first, the Delhi Capitals lost Jake Fraser-McGurk in the first over. However, Abishek Porel and Shai Hope formed a crucial 92-run partnership for the second wicket, giving DC a strong start.

Skipper Rishabh Pant contributed with a 23-ball 33, while Tristan Stubbs’ late surge helped the home team reach 208/4 in their 20 overs. Stubbs remained unbeaten on 57 off 25 balls, with a strike rate of 228. Axar Patel also added a valuable unbeaten 14 runs, including two boundaries.
