Chennai Super Kings set a target of 177 runs for Lucknow Super Giants in match number 34 of IPL 2024 played at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on 19th April 2024. LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to field first. Mohsin Khan shattered the stumps of Rachin Ravindra on his first delivery of his spell.

CSK captain Gaikwad came to the crease and was dismissed cheaply by Yash Thakur. Rahane looked positive with his strokes putting pressure on the LSG bowlers. Krunal Pandya dismissed Rahane to leave CSK in trouble. Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja put on 35 runs for the 3rd wicket.

The first timeout was called with the wicket of Rahane. Sameer Rizvi came as an impact player replacing Rahane. Dube and Rizvi failed to contribute much leaving CSK in trouble at 90 for 5. Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja steadied the ship taking singles and rotating the strike.

Moeen Ali took charge with 3 successive sixes against Bishnoi that changed the momentum in favour of CSK. Moeen was dismissed at the boundary by Pooran. Moeen Ali and Jadeja added 51 runs for the 6th wicket. Ravindra Jadeja kept his calm reaching fifty off 34 balls.

MS Dhoni came to the crease smashing Mohsin Khan for two big shots in the 19th over. He was at his prime best hitting Yash Thakur in the last over. It was a superb batting effort by MS Dhoni remaining not out on 28 off 9 deliveries with 3 sixes and 2 fours at a strike rate of 311.11. His cameo helped CSK post 176 for 6 in 20 overs. Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja put on unbeaten 35 runs for the 7th wicket.

Mohsin Khan was expensive in his last over as he ended with figures of 1 for 37 in his 4 overs. Krunal Pandya took 2 wickets while Yash Thakur, Bishnoi and Stoinis took 1 wicket each.

Rachin Ravindra’s poor form continues

Rachin Ravindra’s performance has not been up to the mark this season so far. He made a quickfire 21 off 16 deliveries against Mumbai Indians but failed to convert it into a big score.

CSK looks favourite to win this encounter against Lucknow Super Giants. His best score in this tournament came with a quickfire 37 against RCB at Chennai.
