Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Avesh Khan stayed with Jos Buttler for over two overs towards the end of their successful run chase against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Tuesday, April 16.
Despite not facing any deliveries during his 14-minute presence on the field, he received applause from his team upon returning to the hotel. Buttler played an outstanding innings, scoring an unbeaten 107 runs off 60 balls to guide the visitors to victory in a thrilling last-ball finish.
While Avesh didn’t contribute any runs, his presence at the other end ensured that Buttler could retain the strike. In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on X (formerly Twitter), Avesh Khan is shown being greeted with enthusiastic applause from the RR players and staff as he enters the team hotel.
He humorously enjoys in the applause and shares a warm embrace with Shimron Hetmyer. You can watch the video here:

A year ago, Avesh showed his excitement by hitting his helmet in celebration when his team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by one wicket on the final ball. The fun party in the new video seemed like a reminder of that funny moment.
Avesh Khan and other death bowlers were crucial in the end
The Royals managed to limit KKR’s total to 224, which could have been even higher if they hadn’t tightened up towards the end. Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Sen, and Trent Boult combined effectively, conceding only 39 runs in the last four overs of KKR’s innings.
Avesh’s consistent performance with figures of 2/35 has been somewhat overlooked this season. His acquisition by the Royals has proven to be a shrewd move, especially considering the injuries to Prasidh Krishna and Sandeep Sharma.
With six wins in seven matches, the Royals strengthen their position at the top and are almost certain to reach the playoffs.
