In the IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens, Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Avesh Khan executed an impressive reflex catch with his non-dominant left hand to dismiss Phil Salt.
Avesh, in his second over, aimed to maintain RR’s control during the powerplay. Salt attempted to hit a length delivery down the ground but only managed to make poor contact, resulting in the ball splicing off the inside half of the bat.
In his follow-through, Avesh Khan reached out with his left hand, positioned quite low. Thanks to his swift reaction time, the ball landed perfectly in the center of his palm, securing RR’s initial breakthrough.
Despite his recent match-winning innings against the Lucknow Super Giants, Phil Salt couldn’t replicate his dominance in this match. The English opener departed after scoring 10 runs off 13 deliveries, with just one boundary in his slow innings. In IPL 2024, Salt has played a significant role in KKR’s success. Filling in for Jason Roy, he has been chosen over Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the opening position and has maintained a strike rate of 160 this season.
