[WATCH] Ravichandran Ashwin Makes A New Bowling Style

Ravichandran Ashwin’s performance for the Rajasthan Royals against the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 didn’t meet his expectations. Despite playing at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the spinner struggled to find his rhythm against the Mumbai Indians batters, including Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera.

Despite attempting various strategies, Ashwin failed to contain the opposition, even resorting to a double jump action, which ultimately proved ineffective. Failing to secure any wickets, Ashwin ended his spell with figures of 0/32, marking a disappointing milestone in his T20 career, going wicketless in six consecutive matches for the first time since 2007.

In contrast, Sandeep Sharma excelled with the ball for the Rajasthan Royals, claiming a five-wicket haul upon his return from injury, helping restrict the Mumbai Indians to 179 runs. Nehal Wadhera, who contributed significantly with 49 runs, expressed satisfaction with his performance but emphasized the importance of team success. He also praised his partnership with Tilak Varma, acknowledging their enjoyable batting collaboration.

‘It’s a really good opportunity. Finally, it came, I’m happy to do well’ – Nehal Wadhera

Nehal Wadhera’s remarks shed light on his mental readiness and desire for victory, emphasizing the collective effort required for success in the IPL. Despite individual achievements, such as Wadhera’s notable innings and Sharma’s impressive comeback, the ultimate goal remains to secure victories for their respective teams.

Nehal Wadhera said: “It’s a really good opportunity. Finally, it came, I’m happy to do well but I will be more happy if my team wins. We lost of couple of wickets early on, and my duty was to wait for the loose balls, we had done it together in the previous season and we had the confidence in ourselves to do well again, hoping our team crosses the line and wins.

“When we usually have practice sessions, I turn up on the ground early. I used to go early with Surya bhai and we used to play like match simulation, that gave me confidence that although I’m not playing a match, it feels like playing a match in practice. It’s amazing to bat with him the fun and banter also keeps going in between, the way he batted is also commendable, credit to him.”
