IPL 2024: [WATCH]- Rishabh Pant Expresses Frustration By Striking Curtains With His Bat Post-Dismissal vs RR

After being dismissed in the IPL 2024 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur, Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant expressed his frustration by forcefully striking a curtain in the pavilion.

In the match, Rajasthan Royals (RR) took the batting initiative and posted a total of 185/5, largely thanks to Riyan Parag’s exceptional innings of 84* (45). Delhi Capitals (DC) started their chase and were at 30/2 in 3.4 overs when Rishabh Pant came to bat.

Pant contributed with a composed innings of 28 (26) before getting out in the 14th over, at a point when his team was under pressure as the required run rate was increasing.

Following his dismissal off Yuzvendra Chahal’s delivery, Rishabh Pant exited the field. Later, he was observed vigorously hitting a curtain with his bat in the pavilion as he made his way to the dressing room. A fan posted a video on X platform to share this moment with others.

Following Pant’s departure, Tristan Stubbs made a valiant effort to lead Delhi Capitals to victory with his 44 runs off 23 balls. However, due to insufficient support from other batsmen, DC fell short, reaching 173/5 in 20 overs and losing the match by a margin of 12 runs.

“Hopefully we learn from this and come back better”- DC captain Rishabh Pant following their loss against RR

During the post-match presentation, Rishabh Pant conveyed his disappointment following Delhi Capitals’ second loss in IPL 2024 on Thursday. Commenting on the defeat against RR, Pant remarked:

“I think definitely disappointed but the best thing we can do is to learn from this. I think the bowlers did very well for 15-16 overs. It will happen sometimes that batters will go berserk. Hopefully we learn from this and come back better.”

He continued:

“The platform which was set by Marsh and Warner, we couldn’t quite consolidate on that but I feel we had too many runs to cover up in the end. There is always one option or the other.”

”We wanted Nortje to bowl in the death. Sometimes he will go for runs, that’s part and parcel of the game. Hopefully we come back stronger.”

DC’s next match is scheduled against CSK on Sunday (March 31) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
