IPL 2024: [WATCH]- Riyan Parag Shares A Heartwarming Moment With His Mother After Guiding RR To An Impressive Victory Over MI

Rajasthan Royals’ batting all-rounder Riyan Parag celebrated a touching moment with his mother after contributing to RR’s third consecutive victory in IPL 2024.

Following his impressive performances of 43 and 84 runs in the previous matches, the 22-year-old scored a brisk 54 off 39 balls in RR’s six-wicket triumph over the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, April 1st.

In a situation of adversity for the second consecutive match with the team at 48/3, Parag showed remarkable composure, navigating through the tough phases before unleashing his batting prowess towards the latter stages of the game.

Parag has frequently acknowledged the steadfast encouragement he has received from his parents throughout his career. Despite enduring a challenging initial five seasons with RR in the IPL, the Assam batter has found success this year, amassing 181 runs in three innings at a strike rate exceeding 160.

His stellar performance against MI resulted in him matching Virat Kohli for the highest run tally in this season’s IPL so far, earning him the Orange Cap due to his superior strike rate.

After the MI match, Riyan Parag noted that his father prefers to watch matches from home to analyze them, while his mother attends the games to experience the action firsthand.

After a remarkable off-season where he excelled in domestic cricket, the 21-year-old appears to have solidified his position at No. 4 in the RR batting order in IPL 2024. During the post-match presentation, Parag remarked:

“Dad likes to watch everything from home, he likes to analyse everything, but my mom is here. For 3-4 years I haven’t performed well (in the IPL.) When the performances are not coming, you get back to the drawing board. I practised really hard, I have practised these kind of scenarios.”

He also discussed the benefits of simplifying his approach and how it has greatly improved his performances. He further stated:

“Nothing has changed, just that I have simplified things. Before I would think about things too much, this year the goal is simple, watch the ball, hit the ball. It’s a funny thing, I have said it before, this is the exact situation I go in to bat in domestic cricket,” added Parag.

Due to Parag’s remarkable performance reminiscent of Bradman, RR currently lead the table with six points from three games. Their next match is against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Jaipur on Saturday, April 6th.
