SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Travis Head has unleashed a ferocious 39-ball century in the IPL 2024 showdown against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday. The left-handed batsman reached this milestone by striking a boundary off Vijaykumar Vyshak in the 12th over of the innings.
During the 12th over, Head started with consecutive boundaries before securing a couple of runs. The boundary that propelled him to the three-figure mark was a clip through wide long-on, swiftly reaching the fence. This remarkable feat marks the Australian cricketer’s maiden IPL century, ranking as the fourth-fastest in the tournament’s history. The Royal Challengers won the toss and chose to field first, making two alterations.

Lockie Ferguson removes Travis Head for 102
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old’s innings ended in the 13th over of the innings as Lockie Ferguson dismissed him, caught at mid-off. The South Australian fetched INR 6.8 crore in the IPL 2024 auction and garnered significant interest, particularly after his impressive century in the 2023 World Cup final against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
He scored a half-century on his SRH debut against the Mumbai Indians and continued with scores of 19, 31, and 21. The SunRisers began their campaign with a narrow loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders but bounced back with a convincing win against the Mumbai Indians.
The Orange Army suffered a defeat to the Gujarat Titans but then secured victories over the Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. After setting a record total of 277 against Mumbai, they are currently poised to exceed it, with Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram batting.
