The IPL organizers faced criticism after a video of match representative Javagal Srinath flipping the coin after the toss surfaced. This incident occurred during the 25th match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium.
While many fans criticized the incident, others doubted the authenticity of the video and dismissed it as fake. Adding to the controversy, RCB captain Faf du Plessis was observed explaining the entire situation to SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins before the toss.
Du Plessis was observed reenacting the sequence of events from his team’s toss against MI, explaining to Cummins how the match referee picked up the coin from the ground and flipped it.
Cummins’ facial expressions revealed his surprise, and Du Plessis’ actions provided clarity on the situation, reinforcing the credibility of the video from the MI vs RCB match.

RCB aims to bounce back from their struggles in IPL 2024
Under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, RCB has been struggling in IPL 2024. With only one victory in five matches, they have endured disappointing results so far. Consequently, they currently occupy the bottom spot in the standings with just two points from six matches.
For the SRH fixture, Bengaluru made significant changes to their playing XI, with Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj being excluded. Although Siraj was listed as an impact substitute, the likelihood of him featuring as an Impact Player is low, particularly with RCB bowling first.
Defeats in any of the forthcoming matches would all but eliminate RCB’s playoff hopes. Although securing a top-four position from this point seems challenging, the Bengaluru-based franchise will be eager for favourable outcomes in their remaining matches.
